You said:
“A dash appears below every placehere module I’m publishing and for the life of me I just can’t understand why, any help appreciated.”
Same here. Not 100% sure WHY this is happening, but figured out WHAT was causing it for me and simple bandaid fix. Use at your own risk.
Cause: In my module parameters, “Template:” I chose “Beez”. The cause of dash in the bottom left hand corner is caused by an empty anchor tag. Specifically this:
So I know I’m not using this and need to remove this from being outputted to get rid of the dash. And to do that I modified “Place Here” module tmpl beez.php code.
In the backend goto and edit:
root/modules/mod_placehere/tmpl/beez.php
Around line 133, just comment out the empty anchor tag like:
<!––>
Save, and refresh.. Dash is gone. Why this empty anchor tag is being outputted is beyond me. Hope that helps.
Hello all,
I’ve got a little problem… Please see my page : http://vote-election.kinssha.org. I can’t make that article doesn’t go over my div… I’ve tried to make some padding everywhere but it doesn’t work… Do you have an idea of the problem ? Thank you in advance !
Trim Text doesnt work porperly on my Frontpage. There would some more words trimmed than chars entered to trim. E.g. the change of 173 to 172 chars trimms three full words.
Sometimes it seems that formatted text is trimmed in a bad way e.g. italic text is trimmed and the rest of the template font is set to italic. This is caused by an unclosed tag.
May this a template problem or PHP Version problem?
PHP Version is 5.2.13, Joomla 1.5.19, MySQL 5.0.51a.
Any suggestions would be very welcom. If you need further information – please let me know.
Thanks again for the module and I would appreciate any help to solve this issue.
Great mod, thanks alot for your work!!!
I have en issue with the mod. If I show an article that includes a link to a plugin, the “result” will not show, only the link.
i.e:
{chronocontact}Newsletter{/chronocontact}
I am posting another comment on the “Read more” link. For some reason the link is not the same as you could find it in a blog layout homepage for example. I have red on your blog that it’s the way joomla links to pages, but the link should display only one article not a category shouldn’t it ? Actually the link of the read more is the same as the title link of the article. Maybe you swapped something here in your code ?
Try displaying an article on your homepage with a read more link and you will see.
Hi, thanks again for your great module. Is there a way to stop the module from displaying the article title in the browser titlebar? Its overruling the title of the main article in the site.
Hi,
Great module, thanks for the work! Is it possible to change the code so that when clicking on the article title the category blog format of that category appears? Now only the category list is available.
Many thanks and kind regards
Pete
I have been looking into the “JHTML Icon not found” problem that is often mentioned, and especially why it is “fixed” by changing from the beez (why beez?) template to default (or now tables), and I noticed a couple of issues.
The problem is only fixed because default (wrongly) only tries to display “edit” if at least one other icon is enabled.
Your latest version only applies the control of “edit” in the beez template, not any other.
I also think all the templates need to provide the path to the icons (but perhaps there is some other way that works for you?)
At least now I see why it goes wrong and can prevent the error messages (I don’t want any icons at all in the module, so it is simple to fix with my own template).
I also find the use of the name “template” odd, as it sounds like you are referring to the site template (especially when one of your templates is called beez!)
Due to the way Joomla generates links the readmore-link will work only for pages that are linked to in a menu. This might be your problem, if not I’d need to have a look at your site (if possible).
I have a question on the “read more” link. This points only to the mainpage. It doesn’t matter if I switch “link to category” to yes or no on the config page.
Now I can’t use the view of category from Title link of mod_placehere (J1.5.15). It works on another website: http://www.awf.krakow.pl (Joomla 1.5.10). On newer site is something wrong with addresing …
Hi Rob, thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately while the edit buttons now always show up it seems that they don’t always work (while testing they word on blog/artice pages but failed in extension pages) so it’s still a bug.
Firstly let me add something I had not mentioned in my previous reaction: I think this module is really great, so thanks very much for it.
I just noticed that you had published a new version of mod_placehere, which I could not wait to install, and luckily my problem with the non-appearing edit button appears to have vanished. So as far as I’m concerned, this is no longer a bug. Thanks very much again.
The following has been remarked in the general comment section also.
On the site I’m developing I have included mod_placehere. Whatever I try though, I cannot get the edit button to show after logging in to the front end. Whether I make the other icons (pdf, print, email) shown or hidden doesn’t make any difference. The article itself does show up though.
I installed your module to show articles on the frontpage of my website in the centre column, but other than the mainarea. I found that when I clicked on the ‘admin’ link to allow front end editing I got a jdate error
modules/mod_placehere/helper.php on line 72
When I looked again at the module settings I saw that the module was set to be published on all menu items. I then changed that to show only on selected menu items (only the homepage -link ‘home’ – in my case) and all is well again
I thought I would share this experience as I saw a few threads in the joomla.org forum about a similar error message.
Great module, but I want to ask you, how I can make it display on certain pages? becase now, when I select the access pages on module menu, it displays whole module but without the information only, i want the module just do not display anytjing, not only the information inside it.. I hope i made my self clear, thank tou

Have you seen this before.
I’ve used mod_contentitem on a 1.0 site which I am now upgrading to 1.5. I’ve installed mod_placehere and it works, sort of. There are 2 problems:
1) Even though I have “Show Title” selected the Title of the module does not show up
2) I’ve selected Table as the Output Mode, but it’s still displaying in Divs. Caching is not turned on for the site and I’ve cleared it as well (just in case).

Great module. I tweak the table template but it would be a great feature if you can add paginations and number of articles displayed per page.
Keep up the good work.

There’s a bug in Joomla itself that can make mod_placehere output the following:
“Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /xxxxx/components/com_content/helpers/route.php on line 106″
This appears three times before the article text. To make this go away you must make one of your menu items link to an article — any article!
This bug has affected other extensions similarly; see:

A little add:
Here is the read more link from an article displayed through your module :
http://localhost/intranetCisel/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=112&layout=blog&Itemid=64
Now the read more link from the same exact article but displayed through a blog homepage
http://localhost/intranetCisel/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22:fusion-mens-cisel&catid=112:annonce-nouveaux-partenariats&Itemid=64
I’m pretty sure you swapped something here – no offence.
Maybe you can fix this in the latest release to come.
Regards
JM

@Peter and the category list display
You might setup a proper blog menuitem for your category. If you don´t want or need it in your site menus, you need to create a “hidden”-menu.
The click on your article title should respect and use the blog category instead

v.1.3.1 BUG with template MENUSTYLE
I guess its a minor syntax problem in the template file!? The output in frontend is:
echo $article->title;
Thanks for the cool module, edit feature and listening.

If I set the pdf and/or other icons to display I can see the frontpage edit buttons (and they work ok) but I get the message:

Is this due to a wrong setting somewhere or is it because I am working locally?

Notice: Undefined offset: 2 in …/mod_placehere/helperhtml.php on line 95.
It is not really a bug just an annoying thing.
helperhtml.php line 95:
In the for loop where if count($rows) < $leading the $rows[$i] does not exist.
for($i=0;$i<$leading;$i++) {
if($rows[$i]) {
if($i%2 == 0) {
$class = “even”;
} else {
$class = “odd”;
}
…
To fix it I just put the following code in front of the for loop:
if(count($rows) < $leading) {
$leading = count($rows);
}
Thanks for an excelent plugin.
