25/02/08 A quick note: it still says “alpha” (version of the module) in the URL to this page; but this is mostly because I do not want to break incoming links. I don’t say the module is bug-free, but judging from the emails I get it is already successfully used in production sites.
Sorry for the late reply – did you make sure that “run plugins” is enabled in the module settings (plugins don’t run by default on the module content).

Hi,
I have used your module on a number of sites and it has been a great success. Thank you.
I have run into a problem. I am including an article with an image map that has a light box hooked up to it. For some reason if I use mod_placehere to get the article the lightbox(jce utilities) does not work. Is it possible this is a mod_placerhere issue?
Comment by James — January 7, 2010 @ January 7, 2010 3:42 am
Hi Eike.
I’m very pleased with your module. Thanks!
I have a question though.
On my frontpage I have two instances of mod_placehere next to eachother. Both of them displaying part of a different article with the Read More feature. The height of both blocks however differ from eachother. Is it possible to make the module – regardless of the content – use a fixed height so they line up nicely?
Thanks in advance.
Tom

LOVE THIS FEATURE. SHOULD BE PART OF A STANDARD JOOMLA TEMPLATE OR MODULE!!!!

Hi Tom,
I cannot reproduce the error, so I have to ask a few things. First the most simple, did you download the module from this page or from the new download page (http://diebesteallerzeiten.de/blog/module-15/) ? I forgot to change the download link here, so you might simply have picked up a wrong copy of the module.
Second, does this only occur when you use multiple instances of the module (which would be a little puzzling) ? And last, can you post your Server OS and PHP Version (I’m on windows here, there might be differences to Linux).

The problem with Jdate is still there. It occurs with the contact component after a while.
i use two copies of mod_placehere and the “contact” component of joomla and tested it also with dfcontact. Bothe same error message

Hi Maurice,
I will look into it. Frankly I don’t think french characters have anything to do with it, I guess I need to work on my sql querys.
Comment by Eike — March 6, 2008 @ March 6, 2008 9:33 pm
Hey,
I like you component i just have one little small issue for some reason it wont display the section or category name. i have selected them in the module, and when i look at it on the frontpage the “-” as defined in /tmpl/default.php does show up but the section and category name where its supposed to be between doesn’t. so it does recognize that i want to see the names but doesn’t seem to get them form the database. might it be a problem that the names are have a space and are in french (so lots of ‘éàç etc).
Comment by maurice — March 6, 2008 @ March 6, 2008 9:24 pm
Um yes, that is pretty much what I’ going to do, except this will be a configurable option and I want to run the image plugin even if everything else is disabled. But for the time being this is a valid workaround.
Comment by Eike — March 3, 2008 @ March 3, 2008 9:58 pm
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
For the moment I removed the calls to beforeDisplayContent and afterDisplayContent from the default.php file and this seems to have done the trick.
Thanks again.
Comment by Fishonadish — March 3, 2008 @ March 3, 2008 9:49 pm
Hi,
this is a problem with the module, not with yvcomments. mod_placehere applies all plugins to the module content, usually with unwanted results. I will add a way to disable plugins in the next days.
Comment by Eike — March 3, 2008 @ March 3, 2008 9:29 pm
Hi Eike,
I have your module working successfully on my site – it’s great to be able to dislay specific items by ID, and this seems to be the only module that gives this functionality, so thankyou.
One problem I have is that it doesn’t seem to be compatible with yvcomments. I’m using mod_placehere to display titles and intros for articles in a few places, but if I enable yvcomments the comment form is called for each item displayed, so the page gets completely messed up.
I don’t know if this is a problem with mod_placehere or with yvcomments, but this doesn’t happen with blog layout pages or anything else.
Any ideas if this can be avoided?

Hi Bashar,
what server software/php version are you using? Can you send me the output from phpinfo() ? And do you have by chance access zu your servers error logs?

Hi Eike
thank you for this great module; i installed the module on Joomla 1.5.1 but when i enable the module the website not working; just white page and nothing there.

Hi Brian,
I gather this is a commercial theme? I’m afraid I won’t be able to debug this without installing the theme – but don’t really feel like spending money on it – so unless you can convince the people at Rocketthemes to let me have the template for debugging purposes I probably won’t be able to help (I’ll try, but this will be stabbing in the dark).
Comment by Eike — February 27, 2008 @ February 27, 2008 12:43 am
Great and useful module that I have been looking for. I am using J 1.5.1 with Rockettheme Dimensions for J15. It shows the Item I wish to show but at the top it gives me this error.

Hoping this will show on here. If not I can take a snapshot of both the page and code then email to you. This is also being tested on a localhost setup with xampp. If you need further info please let me know. I would really like to have this mod on my site as it does exactly what I need it to.
I also noticed when I clicked on the Read More link and go to that articles page, down in the RokSlider the Article does not show in the tab but will show on every other page. Is this normal?
This is also being tested on a localhost setup with xampp.
Thanks for a great item.

Hi EeKay,
this would seem to be a bug, one that I cannot reproduce – can you send me a screenshot of the settings page for the module?
Comment by Eike — February 24, 2008 @ February 24, 2008 10:04 pm
Hi,
I wanted to place content outside the mainbody. I have an introduction area, a news area and the area in which i show my content. for the third mentioned area i use the mainbody, for the intro i am trying to use your module. And it works.
HOWEVER (jup there’s a however) it shows the content well BUT it is followed by a link (showing the content’s title) beneath the content and when i click it, it opens the content on a separate page.
Is it somehow possible to remove that link.. I just want it to show the content text only so i can add a specific content item (and using multiple templates, one per page that needs a specific intro) without the annoying link to the content item itself?
thanks in advance!

Hello, great and VERY useful module which I have used for almost two years.
For the Joomla 1.5 version, I have implemented a FIX for static (aka Uncategorized) articles since I now needed to use the 1.5 version today. I am putting it here and emailing to Eike to hopefully be put in the “official” version.
In the file /modules/mod_puthere/helper.php, the query section starting at line 137 needs to be changed. The code below (ugly here without code formatting) needs to be inserted, and the existing $query lines encapsulated in the else part.
line 138: if($cimid){
line 139: $query = ‘SELECT a.*, ‘ .
line 140: ‘ CASE WHEN CHAR_LENGTH(a.alias) THEN CONCAT_WS(”:”, a.id, a.alias) ELSE a.id END as slug,’.
line 141: ‘ \’\’ as catslug,’.
line 142: ‘ 0 as catid, \’\’ as category, ‘ .
line 143: ‘ 0 as sectionid, \’\’ as section’ .
line 144: ‘ FROM #__content AS a’ .
line 145: ($show_front == ‘0′ ? ‘ LEFT JOIN #__content_frontpage line 146: AS f ON f.content_id = a.id’ : ”) .
line 147: ‘ WHERE ‘. $where .
line 148: ($access ? ‘ AND a.access

Hi Ed,
there is not much that you could do wrong (unless you set the id field to an empty category or an non-existant article, or you forgot to enable it which seems both unlikely) so I guess there is some other problem. I have tested the module with J! 1.5.1 on Windows/Apache with PHP 5.2.4 and it worked fine, so it might be something specific to your setup – can you tell me about your OS/Server Software/PHP Version ? And doesn’t the module show up at all or does it at least display the title?
Comment by Eike — February 21, 2008 @ February 21, 2008 9:50 am
I have not been able to get this module to work at all. No matter the position I publish it on, the section, category or article id I put in there…nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong here? Any help would be welcome.
I have the module from 6-2-08, I am running Joomla 1.5.1

Hi spadilla,
can you send me an screenshot of your settings page (to eike at diebesteallerzeiten.de) ? It also would help if I could take a look at the problem, since I cannot reproduce it on my dev server.

Hi! I too am having an issue with the columns. I want it to be just 1 column and even though I enter it as such, it is outputting what appears to be 2 columns. Any ideas?
Comment by spadilla — February 19, 2008 @ February 19, 2008 2:42 am
Hi Columba,
I don’t think this will be possible to solve without a look at the problem – at least the problem with the colums is more likely a CSS problem than an error with the module. Can you give me an url?
Comment by Eike — February 16, 2008 @ February 16, 2008 7:55 pm
Hi
Tried the Place Here mod on my 1.5 site but having problems I’m afraid. I would really love it to work as its a very useful Module. I had it on the right col of my site and it always pushed the col down below the page no matter what width I put in the mod parameters and it seems to conflict with my jwsig pro plugin.
Maybe it’s something I am doing wrong?
Comment by Columba — February 16, 2008 @ February 16, 2008 3:33 pm
Ahhhh! Something actually so simple and easy to use and it works!!! Thank you!
Comment by Michelle Myers — February 13, 2008 @ February 13, 2008 3:10 am
hi, this is a great module, i installed it on joomla 1.5 and works like a charm..
i had only one issue.
if i put on module’s settings ‘off’ on all parameters, i just needed the article. no titles, no readmore. etc etc; you got a php notice:
Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$afterDisplayTitle in {blahblahblahblah}\modules\mod_placehere\tmpl\default.php on line 100
so i’m an ultra-junior developer so a quick patch that i made is this change on the line in mention:
get(’show_intro’))&&(isset($article->event->afterDisplayTitle))) :
and done, i don’t know if this is optimal, so i leave this up to you guru’s
again thank for this module, keep up the good work and sorry if my english is bad.
greetings from Colombia

Hi Joni,
yes, currently it doesn’t work with uncategorized content. I will fix this eventually, but with the number of things that need to be fixed and features to be added it’ll take some time.

Hi!
First I have to say that your mod was just what I needed and works great.
I only have one question/request are going or could you add the edit article button as well.
I mean you have the option to show print/pdf/email buttons.
I’m using it to show single articles and it would be nice to be able edit them directly by clicking edit…
Whet you think/say???
